Insect fogger works very well in cars and is amusing as all hell to watch, but the smell just lingers.  It's not bad, but it does get annoying.

So, the down side to all the rain we've been getting lately....  the infestation of sugar ants IN MY CAR!!!!!  I really never wanted to find out how well insect fogger works in a minivan.  I'll let you know.  Just in case.

Yes, I know.  It's been a while.  There just isn't much going on that's worth writing about.  Except this.  My littlest playing hockey with a ball and a rake.  Wearing high heels.

More big news!

We knew it had to happen sooner or later, so I give you.....

Raspberry in her big girl bed!

Hopefully it will go smoothly tonight.  I learned a few things last time around.  Like use the bed rail from the start.  And let her skip the nap so she's completely exhausted and falls asleep before I finish the lullabies.  And put the eye drops in right before bed so she wears herself out with the indignant screaming.

Bzuh?

After I picked Drama Queen up from school today, she informed me that she wants a little dollhouse for her birthday.  With two little dolls and two little plates and two little cups and two little beds.  Like in the song, Mommy.  Don't you know the song, Mommy?  And of course I did.  And of course I couldn't remember it all.  And of course it bugged the heck out of me until I was able to get to YouTube.  Now I share it with you...

You want more cute, you say? Well, step right up! )

We're okay!  No power at home.  We do have access to ice.  No damage to the house.  We never flooded and were on the dry side of the storm.  I refuse to call it the clean side.  There was nothing clean about it.  There are limbs and trees and power poles down everywhere.  Power is coming back up in places, hopefully ours will come back up soon.  But we're okay.

Adjustments

family

So, did I mention that Drama Queen is adjusting just fine to kindergarten?  Did I mention that when I went to pick her up yesterday from Extended Day (Ft. Bend County ISD schools totally rock!) that she wanted to stay "5 more minutes"  because she'd "hardly got to play at all"?  She'd been there 2 hours!  Today I picked her up first beacuse it's McDonald's day, and she was upset because she hadn't gotten a turn playing Doggie, Doggie, Where's Your Bone?  Yes, the teacher asked if it could be her turn next because she had to go home and yes, she got to play.  She couldn't pick who stole her bone.  I offered her some strategy for next time.

Raspberry, on the other hand, is not liking this "all alone" thing AT ALL.  She's suddenly become clingy in the morning, doesn't want to walk in to school and cries when I leave.  She's not too keen on bedtime either, screaming "Mommy!" and throwing her pacifier overboard.  Tonight, I just had to let her and sleep argue the point between them. Once I decided to do that, sleep won fairly quickly, and that may be the way to go tomorrow, too.

$55 and odd change

Is how much money it takes to purchase school supplies and a backpack for a kindergardener.  There is a big red (reusable, thank you very much!) Target bag in my closet waiting for the 25th.

Well, we came through Edouard pretty much unscathed.   It was rainy and windy, but we've had worse thunderstorms and luckily we never lost power.  I saw luckily because Monday afternoon the girls' school decided not to open the next day and while I know, on an intellectual level, it is possible to entertain small children on a rainy day without television I would rather not make a go of it if I don't have to.  And really, who can resist the call of an all-day Muppet Show retrospective.  Imagine if you will my two running around yelling "hi-YAH!" and making ill-aimed karate chops at things.

Now I get to go unbatten the hatches.  Lucky me!

Grapes and horsies and ice cream, oh my!

A few weeks ago, when Mr. Me and I were on vacation, we went to the Pleasant Hill Winery in Brenham and found out that starting July 19 and running for 4 weekends they were going to do their annual Crush for Fun.  So this morning we packed a couple of coolers, loaded up the kids and headed west.
